About Me
I’m Tim!
I have worked the majority of my career in hospitality and the past 7 years in the brewery industry. While I have enjoyed my time in the service industry, I find that the most fulfilling part of my work for the past several years has been related to design.
When I began at Old Coast Ales as a bartender six years ago, it was a fledgling brewery and we did not have a way for customers to write out flight cards so I downloaded Adobe Illustrator, bought and read their ‘Classroom in a Book’, designed a flight card, and had them printed onto postcards. I was hooked.
As the years went by, I’ve made several iterations of the flight cards, menus, signs, posters, websites, and over 75 different can and bottle labels using a combination of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
I’ve worn a number of hats at Old Coast Ales over the years, including managing the taproom. I developed many of the systems we use today, including a way to keep track of hours and tips, music schedules, event planning management, and more. I also created an employee manual and wrote many of the procedures still used by the staff. I am constantly organizing the point of sale (POS) system to reduce user error and make sales reports easier to interpret. In many many ways, I have been practicing UX for years.
I spend the majority of time at the brewery bartending. While I do enjoy interacting with customers and providing a great service, my passion has shifted towards design. I love the combination of solving problems while trying to create something aesthetic.
Besides design, I really enjoy going on hikes with my partner and our dogs, reading, upgrading and exercising in my garage gym, board games, and the occasional story-based video game.
